House of the rising sun (i.e. day 7)

To kick off today we decided to get up before the sun to take advantage of some of the beautiful scenery of Fundy National Park and the opportune east facing shoreline. Driving a few minutes out of our campsite we stopped at a great little lookout spot, made some tea, and watched the sunrise. (Of course snapping a few shots of the fiery skyline was a must).

Following such a spectacular view would be difficult, but was no match for our next stop – Hopewell Rocks.  Departing from Fundy National we followed the coast up to the local fishing town of Alma and then continued north to our destination.

It was a great drive filled with views of the Bay of Fundy and neighbouring Nova Scotia as well as several quaint little B&B’s scattered along the way.  Once we arrived we were in captivated by the sheer scale of the rocks, so much so we decided to write up a separate post just on Hopewell Rocks and our experience there (coming soon).

This would be our last taste of New Brunswick for a little while as we set off for Halifax, Nova Scotia, to stay with a good friend for the weekend.  It took us about 4 hours to reach our destination, arriving around 9:30pm we were warmly welcomed with good food and a soft bed – what more could you want to end a spectacular day?
